MFG Day Shines Spotlight on Local Manufacturers, Highlights Career Opportunities

(STAFFORD, TEXAS) October 7, 2022 – The Central Fort Bend Chamber’s Workforce Development Division hosted their 3rd annual Manufacturing Day presented by Frito Lay on Friday, October 7, for more than 240 students from Lamar Consolidated ISD (LCISD). Manufacturing Day provides an opportunity to highlight modern manufacturing, industrial and construction industries — that offer diverse, high-paying career opportunities. The event showcased local industry exhibits and tours of HCC’s Advanced Manufacturing Center programs in manufacturing, industrial automation, drone piloting, robotics and welding.

“Events like Manufacturing Day are important to offer young students the opportunity to be wowed and get excited about well-paying jobs in our County and Region,” remarked Fort Bend County Commissioner Andy Meyers, Pct. 3. “Being able to meet and speak with industry professionals about career journeys and day-to-day work experiences in areas like advanced manufacturing, 3D printing, robotics and other tech is so invaluable, and I am very appreciative of the Central Fort Bend Chamber and its partners’ efforts to host this event! I was also very impressed with the students I spoke with at Manufacturing Day - well informed and engaged!”

“Manufacturing Day is one the best days of the year! To watch the Lamar CISD students learning about higher education and future career opportunities is just amazing,” said Kristin Weiss, IOM, President & CEO of the Central Fort Bend Chamber. “To quote one of the students, ‘It was like being on a playground all day’. The Chamber is honored to have the privilege of helping to form the future workforce of Fort Bend County”.
