Strategic Development Director
Responsibilities
The Strategic Development Director will support the strategic fundraising priorities of OBMC by designing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program that includes best practice policies and procedures for collecting and safeguarding donated funds. The Strategic Development Director will direct and coordinate all fundraising solicitations and disbursement of donated funds and will establish and achieve annual fundraising goals according to the strategic fundraising priorities of OBMC. The Strategic Development Director will collaborate with OBMC Marketing and Public Relations to promote community-wide understanding and support for OBMC fundraising objectives.
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of five years of leadership in sales or development type environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Preferred experience includes:
* Strategic design and implementation of a comprehensive sales/fundraising program
* Development of effective communications (donor recognition, stewardship, solicitation and program results) delivered through creative written, spoken and web-based mediums
* Track record of direct major gift/sales solicitation from individuals, corporations and foundations
* Demonstrated ability to identify, lead, and motivate volunteer committees including Board level committees
* Financial management (expenses and revenue projections and control) and human resource management (the creation of high performing team)
* Community relations experience and the ability to create a hospital-wide presence
* Working knowledge of both outright and deferred gift vehicles
* Demonstrated competence in applying analytical skills to sales/development process.
* Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
* Strong advocacy skills that motivate staff, volunteers and donors to commit to and provide support for OBMC’s mission of care
* Ability to identify, recruit, grow and retain a successful and dedicated team of fundraising professionals
* Current knowledge of relevant GAAP, FASB and IRS regulations applicable to the wide range of gifts received by OBMC
* Ability to learn a variety of information technology tools such as Raiser's Edge fundraising software
* An energetic, creative and thoughtful approach to engaging people.
