General Description


Pay for this position is based on a 12-month contract. Anticipated start date for this position is August 2025.


The salary range reflects the base salary as well as a stipend, which is supported by funding that has been secured for a two-year period to develop new programs to support Texas' nuclear power expansion (training in radiation protection, nuclear cybersecurity, advanced small modular reactors, etc.).


The permanent responsibility of a faculty member is to provide the most effective instruction possible in his/her discipline. Supervision is received from appropriate supervisor. The faculty member works to insure that his/her instruction is meeting the educational needs of students. Additionally, the instructor must ensure the Nuclear Power Technology program curriculum complies with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements, follows Nuclear Energy Institute's Uniform Curriculum Program (NUCP) Guidelines, and complies with the National Academy for Nuclear Training, ACAD 08-006. Additionally, the instructor will oversee the Nuclear Expansion of Texas (NExT) project that is an initiative to expand Nuclear Power education and workforce development in collaboration with Texas A&M University System.


Requirements

 

This position requires a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nuclear Power Technology, Process Technology, or closely related field and a minimum of three years relevant work experience. This position is required to meet minimum requirements for teaching at the post-secondary level set by the Southern Association of colleges and Schools, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and accrediting agencies for individual programs. A criminal background check is required.
