Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital:

Where You Can Find Comprehensive Cancer Care, Close to Home

When facing a cancer diagnosis, patients and families deserve more than just medical treatment—they deserve care that supports them physically, emotionally and spiritually throughout the entire journey. At Houston Methodist Neal Cancer Center at Sugar Land, we are proud to provide comprehensive cancer care here in our community, so patients do not have to travel far to get the help they need.

“Our cancer program brings together a multidisciplinary team of oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, nurses, therapists and support staff who all work together to create individualized plans of care,” Sindhu Nair, M.D., board-certified hematologist-oncologist at Houston Methodist Sugar Land said. “From diagnosis throughout the survivor pathway, each step of the journey is important. We treat the whole person, not just the cancer.”

The faster we diagnose, the faster we treat

One example of the hospital’s patient-centric approach is the Houston Methodist Breast Care Center’s fast-track program. Patients who need breast biopsies after a diagnostic mammogram are offered a follow-up appointment within 24 business hours. The primary goal of this initiative is to reduce wait times and alleviate patient anxiety, supporting early diagnosis and peace of mind. The program reinforces our commitment to timely, compassionate and high-quality breast care.

Another example of advanced, rapid care is the hospital’s new robotic bronchoscopy system, the first of its kind in Fort Bend County. This technology allows physicians to perform minimally invasive lung biopsies with greater precision and reach, helping them access and diagnose small, hard-to-reach nodules earlier—and with more confidence. Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., accounting for about 1 in 5 of all cancer deaths. Each year, more people die of lung cancer than colon, breast and prostate cancer combined. The critical message is that catching lung cancer early saves lives.

The team of experts at Houston Methodist Neal Cancer Center at Sugar Land focuses on new discoveries, breakthrough therapies and advancements in early detection. There is an emphasis on clinical trials to bring emerging therapies and procedures to the community. Physicians and care teams meet regularly to review cases, ensuring every patient benefits from multiple perspectives.
